2nd October 1988 : Swami Maitreyananda (Hiralal) : Announced to the Public in November 88 Swami Maitreyananda (Hiralal) passed away at the Seva Pratishthan on 2nd October 88 at 8.05 p.m., due to cardio-respiratory failure. He was 84. He was suffering from uremia and was brought to the hospital from Deoghar for treatment. In spite of all medical care he failed to register any improvement. The Swami received initiation from Srimat Swami Shivananda ji Maharaj and joined the Order in 1934 at Barisal. He had his Sannyasa from Swami Virajananda ji Maharaj in 1942. Besides his joining centre he served at Deoghar, Belur Math, Vrindaban, Kankhal and Ranchi Sanatorium. He was admired by many for his simple and austere sadhu life.
